The idyllic rural setting also has the convenience of Derby City only 4 miles away and the market town of Ashbourne within 9 miles.

Many local country pubs offer delicious home cooked food and a number of nearby villages which provide shopping facilities: Brailsford is approximately 3 miles away and has small convenience shops, a larger supermarket in Mickleover is approximately 6 miles away, and a variety of fashion and other stores can be found in Derby City and the Westfield Shopping Centre.

Although you have booked a self catered cottage for your holiday or event you don't always want to be slaving over a hot stove all day, especially for a special celebration. At Gainsborough Retreats we have done the hard work for you and tried and tested some local catering companies! We will be happy to provide you with a list of our approved and recommended local companies who can arrange anything from an intimate private dining menu in your cottage to a larger function for up to 52 people on the site. Please speak to us on booking your cottage so that we can pass your details to our events team who will help you as much or as little as you need with making your occasion extra special and unforgettable.

Worth Brothers Wines
Worth Brothers Wines is conveniently located at Meynell House, opposite the entrance to Church Lane on the A52, and is a family run independent retailer of wines and spirits run by Tim and Michelle Worth. They offer a variety of wine tasting events to keep you busy during your stay at Nether Burrows Farm with prices starting from only £15 per person (they might even run you home if you ask nicely!). Alternatively just to pop in and get a nice bottle for a night in. They also offer a delivery service to Farm so you can order in advance and your drinks can be ready chilling on your arrival.
